Dressmaking

Not been blogging for a while because I have been dressmaking. Since finishing work I have dusted off my sewing machine and been dipping in and out of making dresses. Got a wedding to go to in September so decided to knuckle down and finish all the items of clothing I had started and not finished (my old sewing teacher would be shouting at me for having so many half-finished projects!)

I've also made a couple of Venetian style masks... no reason... just seemed like a good idea at the time!!!

Here's what I've been up to!

The Lobster Pot

Headed off to Anglesey to catch up with a colleague who has never been there! What a beautiful sunny day. We had heard great things about a restaurant called The Lobster Pot, and we decided we needed to sample the food for ourselves!

Food was excellent, if you are ever in Church Bay, go and treat yourself to the lobster!!!

Headed out to South Stack for a walk. The sea was glittering in the sunshine, you would have thought you were in the med! Didn't head down to the actual lighthouse this visit, but strolling around the headland made for a pleasant afternoon!

Romeo, Romeo...

Been to watch Romeo and Juliet in Chester Grosvenor Park. Went with my friend and we had a picnic complete with Prosecco. Was a great night, the play was performed outside, so I'm so pleased the rain held off. I guess it's Chester's version of The Globe, creating a circular "stage" area underneath the stars!

Just a nice night to spend catching up with a friend whilst watching some really good acting. I love Romeo and Juliet, and each production has its own interpretation of the text which is so interesting. I bought a book recently called Pronouncing Shakespeare. It's all about an experiment conducted at The Globe to perform R&J in the Original Pronunciation of Shakespeare's time, rather than the RP we are so used to. I can't wait to read the book, but gutted I didn't see the actual performance. (And guess who was playing Romeo in that production? Yep of course, Tom Burke take a bow!)

Burketeers lunch and a thank you from Tom!

I have never been part of a fandom before. I'm not sure if this group of people is normal or not, but we are such an inspiring bunch of people. We have raised thousands of pounds for charity, started an online shop, created a magazine, and made so many friendships, not just online, but actual bothering to travel to meet people, here and abroad. It is amazing really when you think about it. Most people would laugh at a group of fans, call them crazy, but I really feel like I've made some genuine friends.

Today I headed out to lunch with the friend I met when I was down in London. We went to a local pub, had lunch and spent nearly 5 hours gossiping. It was as if we had known each other for years, and it wasn't just Tom and Musketeer talk either, it was proper chatting. Such a lovely afternoon, and so nice to know that London wasn't a one off!

And just when I thought a nice day couldn't get any better... Tom has sent a thank you video to his fans!!!! How thoughtful is that?! We sent him a birthday present, and he has taken the time, and a lot of trouble to video a thank you message to us, and he's taken his birthday book back with him to look at whilst he's working on The Musketeers. I'm feeling more than "prolifically energised" now Tom! I'm so glad I watched POW all those years ago. I couldn't have chosen a nicer human being to become a fan of!!!!
